Southland Academy hosted its Lower School Speech Contest for third graders on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.  Each third grader met the requirements for the speech assignment, presented their speeches to their classmates, and completed the semi-final round of the competition.

Savannah Grace Ewing, daughter of   Mr. and Mrs. Beau Ewing and Noah Mixon, son of Dr. and Mrs. John Mixon, both won 1st place in the contest.  Savannah Grace presented “Fishing” by Jerry Clower and Noah presented “How I Made the Jumbo Tron.”  Grayson Avant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Avant earned 2nd place with "The Boy who Cried Wolf."  Other third grade students who presented their speeches as finalists were:  Emily Claire Bailey, Asa Baldwin, Camille Cochran, Brooks Potter, Nikki Remollino, Dan Williams, and Reeves Young.

Southland Academy is very proud of these young Raiders.  Having students participate in the speech contest is just one of the ways that Southland Academy can help its students achieve their best and help them expand their horizons.
