8th Grade English Mrs. Virginia Page Jeter vjeter@southlandacademy.org Room 202 Southland Academy http://www.southlandacademy.org/ 8th grade English emphasizes grammar, vocabulary, and usage. - Be prepared for class each day. This includes the following:
- textbook
- notebook with paper, pencils and red pens, daily folder, and other materials as instructed
- Always label your work. This includes first and last names, date (month, day, and year), section, and exercise name/number with page number.
- When assigned, homework must be done, or you must accept the consequences. Work will be posted on the school's website per week. Remember that all assignments are subject to change.
- You are responsible for all assignments whether you are present or absent. According to the Southland Handbook, if you are absent for one day, you have one day to make up the work missed. If you are absent for more than one day, you need to see me so that we can make arrangements.
- Grade calculations
- I grade according to three scales: daily (1/3), quizzes - both announced and unannounced (1/3), and tests (1/3).
Parents: Please sign below and return this entire sheet to school as soon as possible. (I will send a copy home with your child after all of them have been returned to me.) If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. My child has discussed the 8th grade English classroom policies with me (us).
