Headmaster Ty Kinslow is pleased to announce that Mr. Tyler Joyner is Southland Academy’s STAR student for the 2019-2020 school year. The STAR student award is a top academic achievement given annually to a senior class member who has the highest SAT score in one sitting and is ranked in the top 10 students or top ten percent of the school’s graduating class. The PAGE Foundation Program of Excellence coordinates this program. 

Each STAR student has the privilege of naming a STAR teacher. This year Tyler has selected Mrs. Patty Webb as his STAR teacher. Mrs. Webb currently teaches Honors Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, College Algebra, and College Statistics. Mrs. Webb has taught at Southland Academy for 30 of her 31 years of teaching. 

Tyler is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jeremy Joyner of Americus. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Doug Joyner of Americus and Mr. and Mrs. Bo Sullivan of Americus.
