Southland Academy K4 student, Candler, is so excited to see his story and his illustration in the class` new book!

Four-year-old Dorothy Straight wrote How the World Began as a gift to her grandmother, but her parents saw potential and sought out a publisher for her story. Daisy Ashford was 4 years old when she wrote her first story, but her most popular work is The Young Visitors. Acknowledging that her students are not too young to be creative, Southland Academy's K4 teacher, Rena Clayton, inspired her students to use their imaginations. Now "Miss" Rena's K4 students are published authors and illustrators! Each student created his/her own story and drew a picture after learning about what authors and illustrators do!! The students truly enjoyed collaborating on their class book, Ms. Rena's 4K Mouse Stories. It was a fun project that they will cherish forever!
