The fourth grade students recently participated in the My Place Project sponsored by the Americus Town Committee of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America. The purpose of this project is to instill in each student a sense of pride and to understand where they fit into their homes, school, community, and world. We discussed that food and hamburgers are universal. The students filled out questionnaires and the responses helped unite the ideas into a centralized theme. Food trucks are very popular lately. The hamburgers represented the students place in their home, school, community, and world. Southland Academy won 4th place in this project.
