Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Earth Day places emphasis on caring for our planet. The kindergarten classes spent an entire week studying and learning about the importance each one of us plays in keeping our planet "healthy." They were given the challenge to complete 8 items on a list to become a member of the Green Team. A couple of the things they had to do were take a shower instead of a bath because it uses less water and recycle things like bags and containers.

Some of our activities in the class included:

- an art project with the Bible verse In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth (Genesis 1:1), -

- enjoying a Ready, Freddy book read aloud entitled Save the Earth by Abby Klein

- using recycled things in the classroom

- completing a journal entry with writing and illustrations that read: I can help the Earth. Can you?

By the end of the week the children were finding recycle signs on products and identifying them at school and home as well. They now understand that even though they are small they can make a big impact on the future and help keep planet Earth healthy!
