Southland Academy students in first through fifth grades celebrated reaching their Accelerated Reading goals with a “science day.” Traveling in small groups from one experiment station to the next, the students had the opportunity to participate in or observe 11 different experiments. The two most popular activities were making slime and writing with invisible ink. While the celebration was very educational, students and teachers alike said it was the best reward day EVER!   After the hard work of being scientists for a day, the students enjoyed delicious snacks which they dipped in chocolate drizzling from a fountain. The parents who planned and organized the fun activity were Meg Remollino, mother of Nikki, and Linda Kent, mother of Emily. Southland Academy is very blessed to have had these parents as well as other mothers and grandmothers to help with all the activities. Southland students are fortunate to be able to celebrate reading. “A book is a device to ignite the imagination.”–Alan Bennett
