Foreign Language Club / Spanish Club

The Southland Spanish Club (formerly Foreign Language Club) is having a great year.  We started 2015-16 with the election of officers and the adopting of 2 service projects:

Compassion International - we are going to sponsor a child (from a Hispanic country) at a cost of $37/month.  This will be funded by our members donating $1.00 each month.  We are excited that we will be able to communicate through letters and emails with our "child".

Tutoring - A large number of our members are going to take part in a tutoring program at the Hispanic Center on Thomas Drive (Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:00 pm) in which they will help elementary students with their homework / worksheets.  We are going to set up a rotating schedule for our members.  The Center is sponsored by the Americus Mennonite Church.

Fundraiser - The Spanish Club is going to work with the SADD Club to host a basketball concession stand.  We will use funds to sponsor a Miss SAR contestant and various other projects.

Club T-shirts - Our club t-shirts are great this year!  They feature 3 chili peppers with the saying, "No veo inglés, No hablo inglés, No oigo inglés". 

Spanish Club membership is open to any student at Southland - whether they are currently taking Spanish or not.  We invite  you to join!
